BLICK: New Nordic Film & Video 2001

BLICK was organized by curators from: NIFCA, Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art, Helsinki and Moderna Museet, Stockholm. The film work Der Konfabulator was part of the BLICK tour 2001.

BLICK provides access to new Nordic film and video work that is being produced by emerging artists. As the result of an open submission process advertised in the main Nordic art publications and through a poster campaign, 666 video works were submitted for consideration and a selection of around 40 works has been made by Rebecca Gordon Nesbitt (Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art), Maria Lind and Cecilia Widenheim (both Moderna Museet). These works have been compiled and screened, with related discussions, at NIFCA, Helsinki 6-7 October 2001 and Moderna Museet, Stockholm 20-21 October 2001 and has then been available for an international tour.

It is a straightforward exhibition – VHS-video tape and ready catalogues – and available to interested venues until the beginning of November 2002. So far, the video compilation tape BLICK has been seen at more than thirty venues:
